UPFDA Expands Advocacy Resources to Bring the Manufacturers’ and Distributors’ Perspective to Industry Issues
A new focus on information, education, and resources to help members navigate the regulatory landscape.
As the pest management industry faces an increasingly complex regulatory environment, the United Producers, Formulators & Distributors Association (UPFDA) is strengthening its commitment to keeping members informed, engaged, and prepared. Through an expanded Regulatory Advocacy webpage, UPFDA is developing resources that examine legislative and regulatory issues through the unique perspective of the manufacturers, formulators, and distributors who supply the products and technologies that support professional pest management.
While much of the industry's advocacy understandably focuses on how regulations affect pest management professionals in the field, UPFDA brings another important voice to the conversation: the companies responsible for developing, manufacturing, registering, and distributing the products those professionals rely on every day.
Decisions made by state and federal regulatory agencies can have far-reaching consequences throughout the product supply chain. Changes to pesticide registration requirements, restrictions on active ingredients, labeling requirements, and distribution regulations can affect product availability, innovation, business operations, and ultimately the tools available to pest management professionals.
UPFDA believes its members benefit from understanding not only what regulatory changes are being considered, but also how those decisions are made, who makes them, and what they could mean for our industry.
Building a Foundation for Informed Advocacy
As part of this initiative, UPFDA is introducing educational resources designed to help members better understand the regulatory process and the agencies involved.
A new Regulatory Agency Directory provides a reference for identifying the federal and state agencies involved in pesticide regulation and oversight. This resource is intended to help members better understand the responsibilities of different regulatory authorities and where decisions affecting their businesses originate.
UPFDA is also introducing a Regulatory Advocacy Glossary, providing definitions of commonly used legislative and regulatory terminology. By establishing a shared understanding of the language used in advocacy discussions, the glossary will help members more confidently follow regulatory developments and participate in conversations about issues affecting the industry.
These resources represent the beginning of a broader effort to make regulatory information more accessible, relevant, and useful to UPFDA members.
A Voice for Science-Based Regulation
At the heart of UPFDA's advocacy efforts is a commitment to sound science, practical regulatory policies, and the continued availability of effective pest management solutions.
UPFDA recognizes the importance of protecting public health and the environment while ensuring that regulations are balanced, scientifically supported, and considerate of their potential effects on manufacturers, formulators, distributors, and the pest management professionals they serve.
Through its Regulatory Advocacy Committee, UPFDA seeks to help members stay informed about emerging issues, better understand the regulatory landscape, and recognize opportunities to contribute their expertise to industry discussions.
Stay Informed. Stay Engaged.
UPFDA's expanded advocacy resources are intended to serve as a growing library of information for members. As the initiative develops, the association will continue exploring ways to share relevant regulatory developments, educational materials, and perspectives that reflect the interests and experiences of the supplier community.
We encourage all UPFDA members to visit the new Regulatory Advocacy webpage, explore the available resources, and check back as additional information is added.
By helping our members become better informed, UPFDA strengthens the collective voice of manufacturers, formulators, and distributors and reinforces the important role they play in supporting a strong, innovative, and responsible pest management industry.
